These are the tools I wish I'd had earlier in my career, so I built them. Each one solves a problem I kept running into myself. Product work is often invisible to the people making decisions about headcount and promotions, so I wanted to give something back to a community that's shaped so much of my own career. That's why every tool is free to use. I'm still building, so keep an eye out for what's next.

FAQ

Can I use this without AI?

Yes. Every tool has a Word version, the same structure as the AI version, but as a static template you fill in yourself. Download it, open it in the word processing program of your choice, and you're ready to go. You'll miss the interactive prompts, but the structure still does most of the work for you.

The files contain no macros. Feel free to run them through a virus checker before using, if that would put your mind at ease.

How do I upgrade to a new version or add a new tool?

Both work the same way. Add the file to your existing Claude project or custom GPT alongside what's already there. Caddy will walk you through whatever comes next. That might mean migrating your customizations if you're upgrading, or getting set up if it's a new tool that needs it. Once that's done, you can remove any old versions, if you want to clean up.

Is my data private?

Please be aware that anything you paste into ChatGPT, Claude, or any other AI tool you use is subject to that tool's own data handling policies. Take a minute to check your AI provider's current privacy policy before you use these tools, especially if you're entering anything sensitive or proprietary.

If you have concerns about privacy, feel free to use the Word versions of these tools instead. You won't get the benefit of AI analysis, but you can feel confident that all your data stays in your control.

Is this safe to use?

The Product Caddy AI files are simple text files written in Markdown, like extended prompts for the AI. They contain a few code snippets for creating icons, but otherwise contain no code. If you have concerns about viruses or security, feel free to read through the files yourself. They're all written in plain English.

Downloading and opening these files carries no more risk than opening any text document. Nothing runs automatically, nothing installs, and nothing accesses your computer. You're just copying text into an AI tool of your choice.

What is the Product Caddy system?

The Product Caddy is an AI-powered system for product management work, built around a base you install once and tools you add as needed. Caddy handles the formatting and structure, so every report, document, or tool output looks consistent no matter which tool made it. On top of that foundation, each tool solves one specific problem, such as tracking your work, prepping for a review, scoping tickets, and so on. You only download the ones you actually need, but you can always return later for more!

How can I customize The Product Caddy just for me?

Caddy walks you through a short setup the first time you use it, asking about you and how you like to work. You can also customize the look and feel of your reports, from colors and fonts to output format. Once that's done, everything you generate reflects your preferences automatically, without you repeating yourself each time.

To update it later, just ask the AI to change a value, and it'll regenerate the file for you to download again.
